Dennis, plays a very important role. His role that day was to manage the group dynamics through his gentle nature and good humor. He also returned for the recent filming, adding his thoughtful insights and perspective to the story. Back in the 1970's, Dennis ran the Cobbler, a climbing store in Colorado Springs, which was the nexus and meeting place of the local climbing community. A former football player at the U of Oregon where he was called The Flea, Dennis translated his athleticism into climbing. In the mid-1970's Dennis and Leonard Coyne did the first ground-up free ascent of the northwest face of Half Dome. He is the author of the Falcon Guide, “Rock Climbing New Mexico” and has had articles published in “Guide to the Colorado Mountains”, High Country Magazine, Rock and Ice and World Book Encyclopedia. Dennis was featured on the NBC Today Show for his work with juvenile offenders. During the warmer months Dennis can be found cragging , mountain biking and whitewater rafting usually accompanied by his faithful Dal dog, Rio. Winter is spent working and skiing at the world class Taos Ski Valley, shredding the steep and deep terrain on his telemark skis. Dennis lives in Taos, NM with his wife Carol.
